“As a photographer I look at light, shadows and textures to shape a photo, as much as I look at the specific subject or scene. As a photojournalist for over 32 years, I’ve been privileged to meet and make images of countless fascinating subjects and interesting scenes. I’ve entered people’s lives-sometimes invited and sometimes not-to capture fragments of who they are or what they are experiencing, at times of both celebration and devastation. It’s been a privilege.
“My influences in photography have been diverse, from Brazilian documentary photographer Sebastiao Salgado and Magnum photographers Christopher Anderson, Susan Meiselas and Larry Towell, to commercial photographer Bill Phelps.”

“I can get obsessed by anything if I look at it long enough. That’s the curse of being a photographer.” –Irving Pen
