I have been interested in woodworking going back to my childhood. Junior high and high school woodworking classes made attending school enjoyable. Photography has also been a decades-long interest. Spending time in the school darkroom was enjoyable and relaxing.
Eventually, the enjoyment with photography led to studying portrait and commercial photography, and eventually attaining a BFA in Art.
Unfortunately, life has many twists and turns. It is difficult to predict where one’s life will take him. Early interests are put on the shelf. Working as a carpenter eventually led to my becoming a vocational carpentry instructor and to obtaining a Master’s in Technology Education.
I developed an interest in turning wood bowls. The magic is not knowing what the final result will be . The defects of the material determine the outcome, sometimes to great surprise. I also dedicate my spare time with photography of various subject matter. Shooting B&W film of various formats, developing film, and printing. The most enjoyable part of photography is in planning the exposure and composition.
